Winter is quickly approaching and restaurants need a solution to keep their outdoor spaces open and inviting to the public. We have designed a practical, affordable and scalable outdoor enclosure system that supports inclusive city-wide outdoor winter dining. The Winter Patio initiative aims to offer patio canopies at no cost to restaurant owners via funds raised through GoFundMe.
We are utilizing a simple, robust and proven canopy system to create partially covered patio structures and are crowdfunding their deployment throughout the Southwest Side of Chicago at no cost to the restaurant.
A sturdy roof and robust, clear vinyl curtain surrounds a portion of the patio buffering patrons from the cold.
MOREThe design is composed almost entirely of readily available, easy-to-assemble modular components.

Azul 18's outdoor dining patio generated 70% of the restaurants income this summer. They look forward to utilizing that space this winter.
As a small business located in the Southwest Side of Chicago, we've experienced first-hand the impact of COVID-19. We’ve also been witness to the toll it has taken on our surrounding community and especially restaurants. We believe that we are stronger when we face these challenges together and saw an opportunity to organize an effort to help these struggling small businesses.
We are home to 40+ talented fabricators, artists, engineers, and project managers who have a knack for solving unique problems. With your help, we look forward to setting up as many Winter Patios as we can fund to help restaurants brace themselves for the cold.
